Well Marsh Harriers are not exactly rare any more, I think the nation would benefit more from the extra runway than from another pair of harriers. Just my opinion of course.

I found Lydd pretty hard to reach on a quiet day in June, so it seems like a stupid place for a larger airport indeed.
Other reasons why it's stupid are: it's coastal, so there are strong winds; there is very interesting habitat, only slightly ruined by a nuclear power plant; there are many gulls to create hazardous situations. |
