Hi all
This is my first post to any of the forums. Have been reading with interest what is on the forums concerning Zeiss Diascopes and digiscoping. Sounds like I got a good scope but maybe not the very best for digiscoping. Still having tried all those on the market when I got it, I have to say I'm still extremely pleased with it for birding. Anyway, I am getting a Coolpix 4500 and wonder which adaptor to get. The Zeiss adaptor (v expensive)? LCE? Eagle Eye? Some one at Spurn told me I should go for a Spidertech?? Any help much appreciated - this is the only place I've found where one can get such guidance! Cheers Matthew |

Hi Matthew,
On behalf of all the Moderators and Admin Team, let me welcome you to BirdForum. I'm sorry, I personally cannot help you with you questions, but if you wait around awhile, I am sure someone will come along with some advice. In the meantime, why not write a line or two about yourself in "Say Hello", and introduce yourself 'formally'. Hope you enjoy your time at BF, and good luck with your digiscoping. |

Hello Matthew,
Welcome to this nice informative and pleasant Forum! I currently use the Zeiss 85 with a coolpix4500 and an eagle eye adaptor! It works fine but! I also like to use my Scope primary for watching and putting them correctly connected with the eagle eye takes some time for me. That's why I ordered the finnish or spidertech like adapter. It could be that I don't have the right adapter i need to use a rubber sleeve with it? But maybe I will keep on using the Eagle Eye because walking around with it seems to be safer then with the Spidertech. I will see the difference later :)

Cheers for the replies guys.
Raymond - I would be interested when your spidertech arrives, to know which one you rate most highly. Matthew |

Hi Matthew,
Last week the spidertech adapter finally arrived. I was out with once and find it very nice to work with. Especially I dont need to remove my rubber eyecup or anything else to use it and seems to attach very quick, and even walking around attached to the scope seems to be no problem. I really find it worth every € paid for it. P.s. if you need more info just ask. Regards Raymond

Thanks Raymond,
My Coolpix 4500 has arrived (although I have to wait until Christmas before I can use it ). All I will need to do then is get the adaptor and I am now leaning towards the Spidertech. It seems that on physical ease of use you have found it to be better than the eagle eye but I would be interested to know if you found any difference in the results in terms of photo quality and vignetting. Many thanks for all the information. It is very much appreciated. Matthew |

Hi Matthew,
Like I said not much testing done yet but, For the vignetting to me it seems that when I leave the rubber eyecup on the scope there's a little bit more, but this is easily removed by zooming the coolpix a little bit more. I have more advantage leaving it on because then the adapter fit's more tightly on the eyepiece and is perfectly centered. When I remove the eyecup the adapter tilt a little bit or is not exactly centered. For the comparing results in terms of photo's I still dont have much for now. Today I collect more extra gear and can go testing this weekend. 1:The wing bracket 4500 for the lcd monitor and cable release(formerly used the one from Jessops it's good but I need a shade for the monitor and this is combined in the Eagle eye wing bracket) 2:The battery pack from maplins to get longer power and more ready to shoot! Regards Raymond |

Digiscoping
Mathew
Have a look at the following for an alternative to the expensive adaptors. Go to http://www.ofo.ca/ Then click on the Photo Page Then click on note by Jean Iron Normurr Quote:

Hi
I just received my Spidertech adapter (Zeiss TFL 85 20-60 Zoom) and it works very easy. Compared to handheld its just much simpler to fokus and shoot. Pictures improves fast. Tried the selftimer and it seems to eliminate the shaking that the fingerpressure causes. Just attached my very first digscoping pictures handheld and taken in Norway this summer. Christmas i here and I'll try out the adapter and camera and return with experiences later on Best regards and merry xmas to all |

Cheers Guys
Have looked at the site normurr suggests - looks worth a try as a basic yet simple system. I'm not much of a diy freak but this one looks easy enough even for me! Of the standard adaptors, I'll probably try the spidertech. Cheers Matthew |
