Viking optics adapters

I was wondering if anyone has used/tried the new Viking digiscoping adapter for digital SLR cameras? I've been waiting for ages for it to appear and am now seeking reviews before paying out £100 for it!!

No i don't have a link to them.

Not long after i posted this thread, a couple came along to Kinnordy and actually had one of these adapters. Apparently they were launched at the recent birdfair in august.

I am going to order one but will probably have to wait a while, because they are very popular, the suppliers are finding it difficult keeping up with the demand.

Its like a normal viking eye piece, threads on to the body of the scope at one end and to a t2 ring at the other, which then goes onto the camera.

When i get one i will put a review on this thread.

I have the t2 ring waiting in anticipation!!

I managed to get out and try my new adapter and was really pleased with the results. It was a lovely sunny but freezing day up here in scotland.

I found attatching the adapter to the scope first was easiest, then putting the t mount on the other other end of the adapter and then attatching the camera to that.

This is me just starting out with digi scoping so i'm sure it will get better. I will hopefully be able to get better shots of the osprey this summer when they use their perches for fishing.

The photos below are both taken with my slr and 70-300 sigma lens then through the viking 80 scope. It was just so i could see what the difference was.

The first pair are of a bull, away on the distant hill side and the second pair are of a buzzard, sitting on the top of the pine tree.

Over all i was quite happy. Money well spent on something that just looks like another eye piece and is very easy to store in my camera bag to carry round. Its remembering to switch the camera to manuel focusing and also to manuel control as well!!! I'l get better with practice.

I have been pleased with the digi scope adapter. I wouldn't have been able to take these photos without it.
The one with two ospreys on the nest was taken a good 400 meters away, under a tree and the rain was horizontal. The light wasn't too bad.

The Great Northern Diver and the other Orprey photos were taken at Loch of the Lowes near Dunkeld, Perthshire. The diver was a good half mile away on the other side of the loch. I know its not a good picture, but its for reference only and you can see what it is!!
