matermind 3 - the streaky or otherwise brown jobs
These were taken in western Europe, 2 in the UK and none in my garden. I want the plant too Michael.
Will edit these in because the server is so slow....one at a time! Last edited by Jane Turner : Thursday 13th November 2003 at 01:33. Reason: slow server...too much hassle to do it all at once |

Here's my pure guesses.
1. Water Pipit 2. Black Redstart 3. Dunnock 4. Crested Lark All are probably wrong, but it's my best offer at the moment. Michael |

yes that was the plant..... No idea what it is myself!
Three birds have been named correctly, but no more than two by the same person |

The colours look funny in pic two, that's the way they came back. I considered posting it in black and white. It was wet at the time, having just been rained on. Its a hard one, but it is a close up!
1 3 and 4 are identifiable on these pics alone...honest |

Still no one better than 2 out of 4. Three speices have been named correctly. The 4th not to genus yet.
Clues... look at the tertials of number 3 and the visible lesser coverts of number 2 |

I will try again, I know I should have taken a longer look:
1.Tawny pipit 2.??? wing reminds me slightly of white wagtail, but all the rest doesnt fit so well With the plant ID I think Michael is nearer, the right twig looks suspicially like a Salvinia, but the left branch shows it is something with fleshy leaves... 3.Bobolink 4.Thekla Lark |
