    Been birding for a few years now and I'm not a beginner anymore but still, a course learning all the time, and then believe it or not I actually ran into this guy, a lifer. I have never seen him. He didn't stay long but I manage some salvageable shots.

    Another shot from New Orleans trip. While I have see a few of these during migration, they nest in the southern US and saw several large groups of them on local ponds in New Orleans area. True to their name they really do whistle and large groups of them make quite a sound.

    A flock of about 12 of these ducks were feeding in a recently plowed field at Hopkins, Belize. Presumably, they were feeding on invertebrates made accessible by the plowing.

    Bon Accord sewage works holds a small resident flock of Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks, fortunately one flew over the fence into the adjacent wooded marsh where it looked completely in character.
