    Sad Underwing Moths (Catocala maestosa: Erebidae) Wingspan 7.8-9.8 cm (3.1-3.9 in). Great camouflage!

    At least I think it's a Peacock, judging by the little I could see of the underwing - it didn't get any better than that view. He was right at the top of a Buddleia bush in my brother's garden.

    I knew you had to get a picture of the underwing to prove the ID of a butterfly. But not sure how much use this one is LOL However, there wasn't anything else it could have been from the top side. At least I tried.
