Bird audio ID. Can you identify this call? (Wales, Britain, Month: May) (1 Viewer)

I heard this bird by a river in Wales, Britain. It was coming from the trees on a river bank around 3pm. I am about 5 miles away from an estuary. I couldn't see anything, just hear the call. There was a red kite above me but it wasn't that. Could it be an owl?

You can hear several calls in the audio. I am talking about the more repetitive low call (the most clear at 0:04 of the audio), not the more high pitched tweeting. It has two distinct parts and is repeated three times in the audio.

Not that I am aware of. I've never heard it before. I was thinking it could be an escaped foreign bird. Hopefully someone has some ideas soon

I'm not great with sounds... but this does sound strange.

So the current consensus is that this could be a tawny? But at 3pm? Slightly strange.

I thought corvid too, but in my case I've heard Carrion Crows making similar sounds.
