Blue fungus North East UK (2 Viewers)

Could anyone help me with the ID of this please? Several of them were growing low down on a log by the side of a footpath.

The larger (presumably more mature?) specimens appeared paler than this one, with the blueish colour having faded somewhat.

Many thanks.

Many thanks for your quick and very helpful reply, Butty. (y) As always, it's much appreciated.

That's a synonym for S. caerulea which seems to have been much-confused with S. aeruginosa. All the scales on the cap, and remains of a thick veil, seem to favour S. aeruginosa - but... pass 🤷🏻

Well yes, but which is the senior synonym depends on which literature/checklist you consult. Kibby 2021 uses cyanea and states "Widespread and very common" whereas aeuginoaa "Widespread but uncommon".
