Bluebird box (1 Viewer)

For years I’ve put out a bluebird box. Only rarely saw one. Now I have a guy inspecting a box every day, it seems. No female. Problem - already appears there’s a chickadee nest in it. I haven’t seen chickadees entering the box for over a week. Should I remove the chickadee nest to encourage bluebird nesting? I placed a new (identical) bluebird house 30 feet away, and he occasionally inspects it, but seems to like going into the one with the chickadee nest more. Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum (y)
We're glad you found us and please join in wherever you like. ;)

I'd give the Chickadee nest a few more days before removing it.

Bluebirds can be just as brutal as House Sparrows when selecting nesting sites.
I fear your Chickadees nest is already history, you can only hope that your Bluebird attracts a mate so that it is not all in vain.
The recommendation to pair Bluebird boxes in the hope that a Tree Swallow will take one and protect both worked sometimes for me.
