Butterfly ID - UAE (1 Viewer)

Any ideas on the ID of this butterfly taken in the mountains of north east UAE today.

Common species in Africa, goes across to India, etc. Didn't realise that it occurred in the UAE, nice

Thanks Jos, much appreciated. There were quite a few at that location - 10 or more on the way up a side wadi (and similar on the way down although could of course have been some of the same individuals).

You'd have loved it, a lot of butterflies around (number and species) and a few Odonata as well.

Is the UEA in the WP?

Not according to Wikipedia but it looks as though a random line of latitude has been taken straight across the Arabian Peninsula (somewhere between Kuwait & Qatar on the Persian Gulf side) so I can't believe it corresponds to any bigeographical region.
