Buzzard, but which? (1 Viewer)

Hello

Today I just saw this fly above my house in Poland.. I would 9 out of 10 times be able to see it clearly as a Common Buzzard, but this one here seems a bit odd with certain features looking more like a Honey Buzzard (Longer and more thin neck/head, looks more greyish in the head and eye looks very yellow).. But they are rare around here.. Can someone please verify if it should be a lucky picture of a Honey Buzzard migrating above my house or just a common buzzard cheating me..

Hello,
yes I agree with you: its a Honey Buzzard. When I read your post, you have already noted the right features:
  • full tail in the right shape, vaguely reminscet of a Goshawk
  • vertical barring to the sides of the belly
  • exact shade of brown is also good for HB, but yes CB is so variable ...
