Hello everyone, hope you are well. I found this old photo on a Facebook hunting group. The guy who posted it provided the following details:

"Memorable picture first, duck i hunt,in my hunting life was ringed, canvasback duck 29th october of 2000 in near shahdad kot the ring no is DB-1023343-moskwa"

He also posted an image (of poor quality) showing him holding the duck he claims is canvasback. Can you help me ID it? If it turns out as such it would be the first record for Pakistan. Common Pochard is the a superficially similar species in our country.

Regards,
Azan

Looks too small and dark for a Canvasback to me, though admittedly I haven't got much experience with it. Besides, a Canvasback with a Moscow ring would very likely be an escapee?
