This species shows in Birds of Peru (Schulenberg et al) as the Yellow-billed jacamar but HBW has split it. Sources suggest it is restricted to terra firme forest. I photographed a pair in varzea forest (not flooded at the time) on 8 July 2016 at Anguilla, Rio Nanay, NE Peru near Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve.
