Lady Mary MacGregor née Mary Jane Cocks (c. 1839-1919) was the second wife of Sir William MacGregor (1846-1919), naturalist, collector and diplomat. She was the daughter of Capitain Cocks, a trader and harbour-master at Suva, Fiji, The Bowerbird is a New Guinean species, which was first described when Sir William MacGregor (q.v.) was govenor of its country of origin. Lady MacGregor also had a locomotive and a rhododendron named after her. (See also Mari (McGregor).
