Common Gull? River Mersey Waterloo Liverpool UK (26/2/24) (2 Viewers)

This guy was miles away hence the low quality photo.

Please note: the photos are cropped from the originals and have had no extra editing.

Gulls are not my forte, but reading up on the Common Gull, this seems to have a lot of the relevant features for a winter bird - mirrors on P9 and P10, mottled grey head and white belly with a darkish spot near the front of the bill and a seemingly dark eye, but I realise that this could be due to the quality of the images. The head also seems smaller and rounder.

And as it's a single bird I do understand that Butty's Law will apply.

Or is it just a Herring Gull?

Anyhoo, any help appreciated and acknowledged with a thumbs up 👍
