Doubts with a Saltator from Chapada dos Guimeraes, Mato Grosso, Brazil (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have doubts with the identification of a saltator I saw last August 18th, in Chapada dos Guimeraes, inside the Pousada do Parque (Mato Grosso, Brazil). Initially I though on grayish saltator (Saltator coerulescens), but according to eBird, in that area is more frequent the buff-throated saltator (Saltator maximus).

I would appreciate your opinions on that bird. I do not have pictures of the back, but I do not remember it to be specially green, but light was not very good at that moment.

Thanks

I'd suggest greyish saltator, now split to bluish-grey saltator there I think. Buff-throated is greyer beneath with more pronounced black whiskers and bib

My field guide for Brazil shows buff-throated to be gray on entire underside except undertail coverts, and photos filtered for Brazil seems to support that. Your bird does not show this. Therefore, agree with TF
