Great white Egrets spotted on my local patch. (1 Viewer)

Hi guys
On my patch that I walk most mornings I came across a pair of these, I was actually looking for the local Grey Heron that lives there, which funnily enough wasn't anywhere to be seen. As you might guess I'm still buzzing.
I'll try and post pics when I get them off my camera, but these are on the cameras screen until then.

Ah thanks for that, I'm not good at identifying and took the size of it as what it was.
I'll try and get more pics as it seems they've been there before.

Yes as Welsh Peregrine says definitely Little Egret. Great White Egrets are being found in greater numbers now so do keep looking and check those feet and bills carefully, I know from experience how judging their comparative size at a distance is tricky.

Thanks Richard D I'll pay more attention to the details instead of assumption.
Iv got a nice two mileish river walk literally round the corner, and snipe pond which I walk to on the weekend too.
Iv only been able to do it starting last week so I'm still exploring, and it's surprising how enjoyable it is. Wish I'd been able to do it years ago.

Getting to know your local area well and becoming aware of the influences of weather and seasons is some of the most rewarding bird watching you can do. Enjoy!

I have a thing about trying to take pictures of anything flying and here's the best from hundreds of tries this week. The elusive heron will hopefully be in my sights again.
