Have Swift 804 HG/5 with Gold Letters; when was it made? (1 Viewer)

Beautiful condition. Gold letters. Serial Number 201790
Previous owner said it was sold in 1999
Hi Fred,

Welcome to BirdForum.

I think you mean HR/5, correct? It should also say "Fully Muli-Coated" on the left cover plate? The first two digits of the s/n indicate that the manufacturer made it in the year 2000. So the previous owner may have been off by a year on the date of sale; or possibly your binoculars were in the last batch sent to Swift for sale in late 1999. In any event, the 804 Audubon was not included in Swift's 2000 catalog; rather, that was the year the new Model 820 Audubon was introduced. The exact details about your specimen may just have to remain an interesting mystery.
