Hello, although I’ve been attracted to watching birds and nature for years, I only took the time to get my binoculars and enjoy those creatures a few times, but I’ve been watching many videos of birdwatchers to my delight.
But over the last few months I started to look into spotting scopes with the intent to getting into bird watching with my two feet. Right now, I’m waiting for my first scope to arrive in the mail, but I’m a little apprehensive not knowing for sure how to start.
I do not know exactly where to go to find my first few sightings but any tips would be so appreciated. Thank you much beforehand for any feedback

Hi, welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. I would check with your local Audubon society.

Hi Joe and a warm welcome from me too. As well as contacting your local Audubon, you could have a look in our Opus section for good sites to visit. I don't know where you are, but if you look at this page you could select your state and see if there are any places near where you live: Category:United States - BirdForum Opus

Good places to start are where there's water in some form, lakes, rivers, estuaries or the sea. Or just put up some feeders in your yard and give them a water bath (an upturned dustbin lid would do!)

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

Started to look at birds Thru the glass, even though I don’t have a good way to digiscopoing, I was able to take a shot at a flitting bird and I’m finding this bird watching to be very rewarding.
