Hornet? Nr Coventry uk (1 Viewer)

Hi folks, can you tell if this is a European Hornet? I found it, already expired, on the floor in the conservatory this morning. I had 6 of them come into our back bedroom last night during darkness creating havoc and scaring my wife. Managed to get them out eventually. Sorry, I should have put something beside it to show scale. However, it was much bigger than a wasp.

Yep, European Hornet. If you had six in one night I'd have a look around your property to make sure you at least don't have a nest.

Hi John, thanks for the confirmation. I did have a good look around the outside of my house, used my binos to scan for any activity around the roof and eaves but fortunately no sign. I did find one on my garden path a few days ago, so there must be a nest somewhere near.
