Hello all,

here are some hummingbirds I photographed and not sure about their ID.
Can you help me out?

1) 5407, Bijagua, maybe Scaly-breasted
2) 5128, Monteverde, female Coppery-headed Emerald?
3) 5073, Monteverde, no idea
4) 3919, Neily, maybe Ruby-throated?

Thanks in advance

Leo

Hi ya Leo!
The only one I can confirm is your female Ruby-throated Hummer. That species and the Rufous Hummer are the only two I am acquainted with in Myrtle Beach ;)

Agreed with Maffong on 1-3. I also don't believe 4 is a Ruby-throated, slightly decurved bill, bit of a belt across mid-belly, lack of white post-ocular spot don't seem right for that species. Looking at ebird maps, it doesn't appear as if Sapphire-throated makes it beyond the Osa Penninsula in CR (?). I'm not up to snuff enough on CR birds to provide any other suggestions though
