In a tree next to the house - Nr Alyth, Blairgowrie, Scotland (1 Viewer)

I just got a shout to come through to the kitchen, there was a big bird in a tree next to the house, looked Buzzardy so I grabbed the camera, snuck the door open VERY quietly and if the farmer hadn't walked by, would have got quite a few more shots. Looking at the photos I wondered, is it a harrier?


Or just another different coloured Buzzard?

It's a Common Buzzard. Seems fairly normal looking. Harriers don't usually perch in trees.

Hen Harrier f or Buzzard? Nara Japan

Pale Eastern Buzzard in the area all the time. Hen Harrier f also reported (reliably over several days). I just have these two photos from early morning yesterday which might be the latter. Am I lucky? Or have I missed it? I've never seen Hen Harrier before, so I don't know what to look for...
