New discovery changes current knowledge of avian evolution (1 Viewer)

The discovery of movable upper and lower jaws in a premodern bird that dates from 66.7 Ma has changed what we understand about avian evolution. The neognath Janavis finalidens could move both jaws like most modern birds, unlike palaeognaths (eg ostriches) that can only move their lower jaw, just like with us or like non-avian dinosaurs.
