Birds of the World says that it's just possible that an Asian Koel might wander into the range of Pacific Koel.
Which leads me to ask, how to tell the males apart, if they are silent? Looking at photos, I can't tell.
The females are by contrast very different.
(Quite funny in that regard. How many pairs of species are there, where the adult males are the ones that are easy to separate but the females are a nightmare! Yet here it's the reverse.)
