Possible Ladder-backed/Nuttall's Woodpecker Hybrid (US)

I observed this bird on April 25, at feeders in Portal, Arizona. Ladder-backed would be the expected species, but looking closely at the photos, the amounts of white vs. black color on the head seemed wrong. They seemed closer to what you would expect from a Nuttall's Woodpecker although Nuttall's would be out of range. The red feathers on the cap extend further than would be expected for Nuttall's and are more what would be expected with Ladder-backed. I know there are hybrids between these species, but most of those are typically seen in California. I would appreciate any and all opinions.

I think your bird is probably in the range of variation of Ladder-backed. There is a darker-faced version of Ladder-backed but they are usually more common in females.
