I live in Getxo (Northern Spain, Bilbao Port) and it's been four or five years since we saw any razorbills here. The last time I saw some there was a group of five.
Two weeks ago I got word of the sighting of one, turns out I found also a group of four. And last Saturday we saw some groups, totalling 13 - 15 individuals. Which is a lot for this location! I've also seen reports of a couple of guillemots.
We were wondering why we didn't see any for several years. Maybe some population crash or catastrophic event several years ago? In that case, is there any record of population bouncing back at breeding sites?
