Recording Gear Wish List (1 Viewer)

Based on another thread on optics, as a bit of fun, I thought I would ask what is your ‘dreamed of’ piece of recording equipment?

It seems to me that we are generally using a lot of kit, that is designed for another purpose than wildlife recording - e.g. my holiday kit is now really a recorder designed for film/interview and a vlogging mic!

My dreamed of item would be a passive recorder, housed in a weathertight box that can be secured in place - but designed for high quality audio recording rather than wildlife surveys (as are the existing Wildlife Acoustics, Frontier Labs and Titley Chorus offerings) - I.e a quieter, more sensitive mic, quiet pre-amps and 32bit float recordings. Perhaps also a mono and stereo version. I don’t care if the batteries won’t last a month, but just imagine being able a stake out a species or set up for a dawn chorus and then leave in the field (in reasonable confidence) and come back several days later to collect.

The market is probably too small for specialist bird recording kit (save parabolas), but who knows, some manufacturer somewhere may be reading this thread and be inspired.
