Scarlet Darter at Minsmere, Suffolk UK (1 Viewer)

Excellent record. Given the number of new arrivals & rapid colonisations of several species I'm surprised records of this common southern European species remain so low. Such a distinctive dragonfly so probably not overlooked much, even though this was initially misidentified.

Another one claimed at Farmoor, the day before, but somebody talked them out of it based on the unlikelihood. Perhaps it was after all.

Perhaps they don't like large water crossings. I'm surprised there hasn't been another one for Hampshire since the late Keith Goodyear found one at Upper Crockford just over 20 years ago but if it doesn't stop at the coast, where there are always many observers/photographers, then it could easily spend a fortnight at an inland pond unnoticed (or unrecognised!).
