Small bat twice this week at Dunmail Avenue, Cults c. 08:45 pm on both occasions. Flight strong, rapid and direct, heading towards the River Dee using the same route each time. It may originate from the building I live in. This isn't my field of expertise (like so many other things), I'm afraid.

When is sunset near you?

Today it was at 20:26 according to the BBC weather page.
Likely to be an earlier emerging species. Pipistrelles emerge earlier, noctules even earlier but they are a much bigger species of bat. Pipistrelles typically have a somewhat fluttering flight but if they are commuting it can be straight and direct.

Thanks. I sort of assumed it would be a Pipistrelle, but only because it's the commonest type I know about.
