Perhaps it's timely to remind Bird Forum members that this taxon was named by Athenaeum Club member Harry Bridger St John Philby in 1937 after the Club librarian, Pamela Lovibond: Jobling 2010 (the Athenaeum emblem is an owl).

Mike, strictly speaking, pamelae was described by George Latimer Bates, not Philby (though it was Philby who recommended that the bird should be named for Miss Lovibond and who collected the type). Furthermore, Philby’s full name is correctly written, Harry St. John Bridger Philby, per the type description (but Wikipedia has it right too).

Guy,
Always a pleasure to stand corrected by you! I keep on learning that way. Also congrats on more fine work.
