South Carolina bird ID? (1 Viewer)

Hello all,

I just drove past this bird on my golf cart this morning and it doesn't look like a species that frequents the property. The bird was doing a bobbing behavior that I would associate with some shore birds.

The photo was taken in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in a fairly wooded area, about 4 miles from the shoreline (as the bird flies).

Any ID help would be gratefully appreciated for my own edification.

Hi, welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. Don’t worry about asking for the ID here, a lot of newcomers do.

Hi Robert and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

I would love to see this bird, and boom!, you have it right in front of you on the sidewalk! Lucky you. We don't have them in the West. What an adorable bird.

Thanks everyone for the warm greetings. I'm quite familiar with raptors, but only have a limited knowledge of other birds. I look forward to learning from all of you.
