The new name honours Francisco Contino, an amateur ornithologist and bird illustrator from Jujuy, Argentina who wrote several ornithological papers, one in English, and a field guide to the birds of north-west Argentina.

Glossy-black Thrush ssp. Turdus serranus continoi Fraga & E. Dickinson, 2008
Francisco Contino (fl.1970) is described by the authors as '... an amateur ornithologist and bird illustrator from Jujuy, Argentina, who wrote several ornithological papers, one in English, and a field guide to the birds of north-west Argentina.
The Key to Scientific Names
Francisco Contino (fl. 1970) Argentinian amateur ornithologist, bird illustrator (subsp. Turdus serranus).

So one publicaton of him in The Auk was Observations on the Nesting of Sporophila obscura in Association with Wasps . Here as author of Aves del noroeste argentino we can find his name as Francisco N Contino. Question is as well if he is an amateur. Looks like he has had a academic background. It looks like Claës Christian Olrog was a friend of him.

But I couldn't find more on him. Maybe still alive?
