Hello,
Last autumn in Portugal I passed meadow-land very near the sea (approximately 500 yards). This was in Southern Portugal, near the village of Carvalhal at the ocean coast (near the Reserva Natural do Estuário do Sado, somewhat near Setúbal). The date was the 5th of October 2018, 10:45 local time.
In these grass (or perhaps rice) lands a considerable number of birds gathered. I could make out White Storks, Glossy Ibises, Spoonbills, a single Grey Heron, Yellow-legged Gulls, Black-headed Gulls. It was a great sight, but that's not what I'm writing about
I also noticed some dark birds that I could not identify. Could someone please assist me?
The first attached photo provides an overview, the three circles indicate the bird(s) that I do not recognise. 3 instances of the same bird? Or different birds? I included 3 larger images corresponding to those circles from left to right.
The fifth image provides both another overview and an enlargement, with in the red rectangle two possible other instances of the bird whose name I'm looking for
Regards,
Frank van de Velde
