USA - New York - eastern Long Island - Owl call? (1 Viewer)

1 hour after sunset.
In the top of a tulip tree. Located by sound not sight.

Area surrounded by water and marshes.

Pair of birds. Saw one fly. Wingspan ~1m.

Call- High pitched bark followed by a softer trill. Sound like the yap of a small dog followed by purr of the same pitch. Medium low volume.

Could not match to any online recordings for local owls. Heron or egret?

Area frequented by great horned, barred, screech and barn owls. Never heard this call around here.

TIA
Dave

Juvenile Owls make weird calls and this is the time for them. Maybe screech considering it was trilling? Might also be worth it to listen to Eastern Whip-por-whil recordings.
