Visited Saltholme yesterday Saturday 14th August (1 Viewer)

The above is a relatively new extension to the RSPB Saltholme reserve since 2019 called Haverton Hole close to the Haverton Hill Viewpoint. Access is allowed but with hours a little less than the main part of the Saltholme reserve.

I've always found this part of Saltholme to be very quiet at Saltholme away from the hides and where activities for families with children take place even at weekends, bank holidays and even when it's hot, sunny and dry weather. It is a longish but eaay walk to this part of Saltholme and yesterday just saw 4 others in that part of Saltholme and again only very few in this area at Saltholme on my visit as well two weeks ago.

We visted today, used the cafe (homemade cheese scones!) but didn't walk far as we'd already been to Seal Sands and the afternoon was hot. We have done this Haverton walk and it is very enjoyable.
Today we saw a young yellow wagtail on grassland south of Greatham Creek, and a merlin hunting over Seaton common nature reserve. Always something interesting to see in and around the RSPB Saltholme area.
