Hi all - I'm making my first trip to the Outer Hebrides at the end of May. Are there any particularly good sources of info about wildlife sightings that will help me make the most of my week?

Its not necessarily a bird watching trip - bringing my teenage daughter and octogenarian mum who was born on Eriskay - but would love to see some of the local specialties if we get the chance.

Any pointers much appreciated!

Hi Paul. There’s a few trip reports on here that I used to get some ideas 3 Italian Birders and Original PaulE from memory but I’m sure there’s more.

I’ll have a look where we went and mention any places we found worth visiting. I would say all the beaches are amazing. My boys absolutely loved them.

Hi Paul

We have some articles with links covering the Outer Hebrides on our Opus articles, which you can access here: Category:Outer Hebrides - BirdForum Opus.

The islands are beautiful with loooong sandy beaches (as Rich suggests) - many of them you will have all to yourself. There are also some quiet rocky bays (mostly on the east side) to explore as well.
