Water dish as bird attaction (2 Viewers)

I started using a 24" diameter and 1.5 inch deep saucer to provide drinking water and a bath for the birds in my area. The smallest finches and the red shouldered hawks and everything in between are using the water. I dump it each day and put in fresh water and as I am on a well there is no chlorine or other chemicals in the water. Every other week I soak it for 24 hours with a bleach solution and use a smaller backup dish.

The depth of 1.5 inches seems to work the best. Any deeper and most birds regardless of size will avoid using it.

With the ongoing drought in my area many birds appreciate the water source.
