What’s the best time of year to remove a tree in Sydney? (Concerned about bird life) (1 Viewer)

I live in Sydney and there is a huge tree over my plumbing that has costed me many thousands of dollars of plumbing damage, and will Continue to do so. My neighbours have also said a lot of negative things about the tree. I think it really needs to go, but yes I am posting here because I am concerned about bird life. I’m sure spring is not a good time, as there are eggs and baby birds around. I’m think maybe late autumn or early winter would cause the least disruption to bird life? Any thoughts?

I'm not sure on nesting times in Sydney, but in the UK you would normally do it between October and February to avoid disturbing nesting birds - basically mid-Autumn to Winter but well before Spring. Do check local regulations with your local council/authority. I have to get permission in advance which can take 6-8 weeks for tree removal or branch felling.

I suggest to ask also a company doing such kind of activity. Probably they are well informed about legal aspects, including laws protecting birds.
