As Sean says you can park in thursley by the play park & you'll see the entry sign to the common. The bird was in an area of deciduous trees to your left a short distance from the entrance.

The Wood Warbler showing well at Thursley this morning, nice bird to see the first I've seen locally for a few years. Also 2 Spotted Flycatchers at Frensham along with a nice male Redstart.

Male Ring Ouzel still at Staines Moor today & showing very well, at the Reservoir - 1 1w Little Gull, 2 Yellow Wags, 1 White Wag, Shag, & Ruff. In the afternoon went over to Winkworth for the reported Pied Fly which performed superbly to the west of the boathouse at Rowes Flashes.

Great views of Hawfinches this afternoon at Bookham, at least 3 present. Also seen Marsh Tit, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Goldcrest, singing Chiffchaff, Bullfinch, & Ring Necked Parakeet.

Walk around Tilford NR this morning produced no sign of Lesser Spots, but did have 2 Buzzard, Kestrel, Goldcrest, Treecreeper, Nuthatch, & 3 Great Spots.

Good couple of hours at Staines Res this morning, GN Diver showing very well close to the causeway on the South Basin. Also 3 Common Scoter, Scaup, & Black Necked Grebe all also on the South Basin.

Excellent views from the beach of the 4 Common Scoters at Frensham Little Pond this afternoon, makes up for dipping the Great Pond bird at the start of the year.

Good Morning at Thursley today, my first returning Great Grey Shrike of this half of the year showing well but briefly in birches near Pudmore Pond. Also 10 Crossbill, 3 Snipe, 5+ Stonechat, & several each of Woodlark & Skylark.

Two juv Black Terns showing well over Staines North Basin this morning, also Hobby, 2 Wheatear, Kestrel, Common Sandpiper, & wader spp which I picked up too late as it flew over the causeway & South Basin poss Ruff or Knot??

Another Spot Fly this evening at Thundry, also 3 Woodcock, Little Grebe, & Mandarin. Could'nt resist stopping in at Crooksbury on the way back & was rewarded with good views of a Nightjar near the car park.

I arrived there about 9pm & heard churring birds straight away, as it's light until 9:30 ish that gives you about a half hour window. Give it a go I had fantastic views the other evening!

Park at Little Bookham, (over the railway), & follow the main track to your left. When you reach the cattle grid take the path to the left & bear right. Eventually you will see a gate which leads back onto a main track, all three birds were singing in this area immediately before &...
Rich is spot on, I went this evening & had excellent views of 1 male perched in a pine near the car park & at least 2 other birds wing clapping / churring. This was just in the area close to the car park as I had limited time.

Welcome to BF! If you followed the heath trail from the Moat car park, Shrike Hill is to your right after you reach the end of the boardwalk crossing the bog & small area of pines. I'm surprised that you did not see Hobby, these can be seen hawking Dragonflies over the bog/Pudmore Pond...

Is the public footpath the one near the church that runs beside Manor Lake?
Where are the farm buildings in relation to the footpath?
