Kowa TSN3 (1 Viewer)

Is the Kowa TSN3 telescope still marketed? I am looking for a new telescope for checking colour-ringed choughs here in the Isle of Man, as my own telescope is a bit past it. Having seen the Kowa TSN3 'scope in action for (very successfully) recording the colour-ring combinations on choughs, I am considering buying that make of whatever the modern equivalent is. Thanks in advance for any information.

Try this link for most of the current Kowa range. The TSN3 was discontinued well over 10-15 years ago, and was replaced by the 820 series scopes, which have just recently been replaced again by the 770 and 880 series scopes. The TSN3 was a fine scope in its day, though the current models are perhaps the best scopes on the market today.

If you're spending serious money you should also consider models from Zeiss, Leica, Nikon, Swarovski, Opticron etc. The TSN3 still comes up for sale regularly on ebay and perhaps the classifieds section of Birdforum. Keep an eye also the websites of In Focus, Cley Spy, Kay Optical and Ace Optics of Bath.
