Goldfinches unusual behaviour. (1 Viewer)

There are 12+ goldfinches regularly visiting our garden. Yesterday morning after their breakfast of sunflower hearts and nyger seeds they all flew to the brick wall on the side of the opposite house and was pecking at the brickwork. Some of them did the same this morning. Is that normal?

While either explanation given already is perfectly reasonable, it would be normal for them to collect some grit after a feed. They may have identified this as the safest place to get grit.

Mike.
