Spotting scope and SLR (1 Viewer)

I know this is a silly question to all of you who know so much about taking great photos of birds but here it is. I have the Leica's APO Televid 77 spotting scope and Nikon's N65 SLR with zoom lenses, one of them being 175 -500 mm. Is it possible to combined these two items and take great close ups photos of small birds? How? What do I need besides time?
