Reno In October (1 Viewer)

I am planning on going to Reno in October for a business trip. I am from Texas and have not gotten many Western birds. Can somebody give me a good place for a day trip? Also, what can I expect to see at that time of the year?

We were in the area in Feb (actually nearer to Lake Tahoe) and had a day birding around Reno. We initially went to the Sierra Valley, which was excellent for raptors and then went on to Swan Lake - good for burrowing owls and Virginia rail and Sora. There is a lot of useful information at www.nevadaaudubon.org which refers to the Lahontan Audubon Soc
