I feel the following raptors are over-looked and of course there range has changed a lot over the last 10 years.
I would like some infomation about their distribution in the UK.
1. Honey Buzzards - I have yet to see one in the UK but seen abroad. I gather they nest in the New Forest NP, Wales, Scotland, Northumberland but where else. I think HB's are increasing?
2. Hobby - increasing and heading northwards right? Which areas have they not spread to yet?
3. Marsh Harriers - rare but increasing. 3 males and 5 females at Leigthon Moss. Plenty of pairs in East Anglia. Some breed in Scotland ? Anywhere else?
4. montagu's harrier - very rare? breed in some spots oin the east or south? any one know which counties?
5. red kites - have they started spreading or breeding in new counties other than where they were released/? i know numbers are spiralling but any spread?
6. osprey - how many pairs breed at rutland and in wales? i had heard that ospreys were going to be reintroduced into the peak district?
thanks!
