Sorry for the title, couldn't resist. I just purchased a Sigma 500mm 4.5 prime HSM/EX and was considering getting the Wimberley Sidekick. My questions surround my tripod and head. I currently have a Really Right Stuff BH-40, their mid-size ballhead, mounted on a Gitzo Mountaineer GT2530. So here are my questions:

1. Can the BH-40 adequatley handle the Sidekick and this lens or should I upgrade to the BH-55?
2. Do I subsequently need to upgrade my tripod, perhaps to the GT3531LSV?
3. Should I sell everything and buy a point and shoot since this is an insanely expensive hobby for an amateur?

One last remark is that one day (not in the near future) I may want to go all out and get a 600mm, but I don't see that happening for at least a couple years.

Thanks for your advice,

Captain Kurt
