Black-necked Grebe (1 Viewer)

A pair, possibly a third Black-necked Grebe at Staines Reservoir this morning :)

Not seen these before but apparently they come over for the winter every year.

Also had a Stock Dove and possible Sandering (was a bit distant)

Black-necked Grebes are regular in winter and spring, sometimes counts get into double figures (or at least used to). March/April is a good time to see them in summer plumage. Views are normally very distant though (like everything else at Staines).

Heh yeah I was told there was about 12 last year, can't wait to see them in summer plumage they look great in the pics!
