Hi fellow Ringers

After we finished yesterday we had a short drive to the next ringing site at the olive grove.

still very windy but managed to put up 9 nets including 2 sets of 3 nets in tandem, furled them as we put them up ready for the next morning on 20th.

all were opened this morning by first light and like yesterday we ringed an excellent mix of local birds and trans saharan migrants.

The passage of Whitethroats and Garden warblers here morror what is happening on Gibraltar.

1 Of the Melodious warblers ringed had heavily abraded primaries and tertials ,and appeared in poor condition and was very pale lemon below .This is typical of a 1st year bird that had undergone only a partial winter moult.

The Wryneck was a great record as I ringed it here last year as a juvenile on 20th August 2003,still had the typical brown iris with grey outer rim.
