Black Forest (Schwarzwald) in early June (1 Viewer)

In early June we are planning a family holiday to the Black Forest with my father who is a very keen birder.

Does anyone have any suggestions for places to stay that might be close to birdwatching areas (but also suitable for kids!) and also any particular birding locations worth visiting in early June?

Thanks

Hello,

I never been in this area.
Because river Rhine area is one of the most warm area, there live birds they prefer some kind of areas like Beeater, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Rock Bunting and Collared Flycatcher.
Location overview

In Freiburg is a breeding place of Alpine Swift which should be back end of March.
But is only a homepage in german language

In the Black Forest itself can be find e.g. Tree-toe Woodpecker and Pygmy Owl.
One place for Woodpeckers should be in the protected area near Feldberg.
Pygmy Owl should live between 450 m - 1300 m.

Best regards
Dieter
