Hi all,
I've been out for a month (April15th-May14th) ringing at Dragonera Natural Park, a small island in the SW of Majorca. The aim was to catch mainly trans-saharian migrants, as we cooperate with the "Piccole Issole" project to study migration over the Mediterranean. We didn't get lots of birds (a total of 927 is not impressive) but we had great diversity, catching 50 different species with the nets plus another one hand captured, a Balearic Shearwater calling next to our house! Most of the birds were trans-saharians so not bad.
Here's the list of the birds we ringed. Rarities in Majorca are marked *
1 Pied Flycatcher had a ring from Sweden and 1 Sedge Warbler had a British ring, two nice captures!
The weather was most of the time windy and sometimes rainy. That doesn't help big catches but probably brought us some rarities. We'll see how Fall migration works this year.
Saludos
