focus limiter (1 Viewer)

Hi

Although I've been using my Tamron 90mm macro for years, I've never really used the limiter. Now I've tried it and I can't find any difference between it being on and off. Am I right that the idea is it stops the lens focussing very close so it doesn't hunt when shooting more distant subjects? Because I can still focus very close with it on?

dont know much about it but i looked into buying one of these & got the impression it was the other way round, i.e it limits the lens to close focus.
